

Robert Skinner, 86, of Washington Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, with his family at his side. He leaves behind a legacy of service, courage, love of family, and friendship that touched the lives of countless people.
Robert was born on April 28, 1940, in Jersey City, NJ to James and Helen Skinner.
He devoted much of his life to serving and protecting others. Robert proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1957 to 1960. He served on Sea Duty aboard the USS Canberra.
Following the Marines, Robert “Luke” was a member of the Jersey City Fire Department, Rescue 1 and Engine Co. 7 for 30 years where he received numerous lifesaving awards and citations.
He is survived by his three children: Debra Piazza and her husband, Phil; Robert Skinner and his wife, Karen; and Richard Skinner and his wife, Elena; four grandchildren: Dylan and his wife, Jess; Brendan, Tyler, and Luke Skinner; one great-grandchild, Liam Skinner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his two wives, Carol Ann Gordon Skinner and Carol Graziosi Skinner, and his siblings Eugene, Sally, Grace, Helen, Rosie, James and Raymond.
His greatest pleasures in life included spending time with family, vacationing at the Jersey Shore, and relaxing in his yard.
Robert was an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Washington Township.
The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Sunday, September 27 from 2-6PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Robert's life and faith will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, Twp. of Washington, NJ on Monday, September 28 at 11AM. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
