SAKOSITS, Shannon, N. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shannon Nicole Sakosits on November 11, 2015 in Ithaca, NY. Shannon was born on September 23, 1994 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ to Brian Sakosits and Kathleen McCoy Sakosits. Shannon grew up in Woodcliff Lake, NJ and was a graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township, NJ, class of 2013. Shannon was a junior attending Ithaca College as an Integrated Marketing Communications Major and lived off campus in Hudson Heights. She was a consecutive-Dean’s-list student, and a bright and beautiful girl. Shannon had a straightforward manner, a gentle laugh and a dry wit. She could be a bit sassy with a certain twinkle in her eye, and was charming and thoughtful as well. She loved her brothers, Ryan and Michael, dearly--- their bond was obvious to all. She adored her dogs, Cheyenne and Sadie. She loved organic foods and cooking, and spending summers working at her Aunt Karen’s Vitamin store in Arizona. Shannon was a free spirit and an independent thinker, and had an appreciation for art, music and literature; as a child she performed in various piano and ballet recitals. She enjoyed museums, music festivals and exploring art. New places and traveling were passions of hers---in 2014 she had the opportunity to take her first trip abroad, traveling to London with her best friend, her mother. Shannon had hoped to spend a semester abroad studying in Spain before completing college. She was a talented writer and had ambitions to work in marketing in New York City. Shannon is preceded in death by her great Grandmother, Grace Lucia and her Grandmother Virginia Purcell Sakosits. She leaves behind to cherish her in loving memory: her parents Brian Sakosits of Norwood, NJ and Kathleen McCoy Sakosits of Mahwah, her beloved brothers Ryan and Michael of Mahwah, Grandparents Carol McCoy of Manchester, NJ, John McCoy (Sherry) of Ocala, FL, John Sakosits (Mildred) of Boca Raton, FL, her boyfriend Spiros Nicholas Segalas-Shaw, as well as a host of loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends. Shannon touched the lives of all she met. Please join us in celebrating the life of our special and beloved girl at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood on Monday at 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Her funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Mercy in Park Ridge, NJ on Tuesday at 10 am.
