Sture (“Stu”) Sten Seablade, 81, formerly of Westwood, NJ and Middletown, NY, passed away suddenly, on his own terms, and peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. Beloved husband of Bettyann (nee Bonnema). Devoted and loving father of Stacey Hoskins and her husband Glenn. Loving and supportive grandfather (“Pop”) of Conner Elis Paller and Brandon Sture Paller. He is predeceased by his father, Jenfried Hoglund, his mother, Elna Hoglund, his brother, Bengt Hoglund and his uncle and aunt, Karl Elis Seablade and Elsa Seablade. Stu was born in Narpes, Finland, and came to Westwood, NJ in 1948 after contracting polio, with his mother, Elna Hoglund and loving uncle, Karl Elis Seablade. Despite his polio diagnosis and resulting physical disability, he persevered and was active in sports and received All State and All County honors as a center for the Westwood High School football team and served as Senior Class President in 1958. His perseverance continued, as he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University while also working alongside his uncle Karl as they built Seablade Construction into a successful contracting company, until Stu retired to Middletown, NY in 1997. He was always quick to say “when the going gets tough, the tough get going”, and he lived his life with that mantra, and instilled that into his daughter and grandsons. His love for the USA, and the opportunities this country gave him, was the heart of who he was, and Stu was never without his USA cap to show his patriotism. Stu’s love for his family was unending and taking care of them gave him so much joy. Stu always had a smile, or a joke, and he loved to tease anybody that had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be forever missed by so many, and the presence and force that was him. “For those wishing to make donations in Stu’s memory, the family would appreciate donations to the “Resident Council Fund at Care One Ridgewood Avenue”, c/o Anne Marie Gauntlett, Director, Care One at Ridgewood Avenue, W 90 Ridgewood Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652 - (201) 652-1950, which will provide entertainment and joy to his fellow residents at Care One, including his wife, Bettyann.” You may also send condolences to Stacey Hoskins, 66 Second Street, Park Ridge, NJ 07656
