Tara S. Setteducati (Leahy), 63, of Emerson, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, August 7, 2026. Beloved wife of 33 years to Anthony "JR" Setteducati. Devoted mother of Victoria, her only daughter. Dear sister of Robin, Dawn, and Holly. Loving aunt to Anthony, Patrick, Kerri, Catherine, Faith, Ryan, Donovan, Cassidy, Sydney, and Megan, and loving great-aunt to Auron and Zachary.
Born in New York, New York, Tara grew up in Dumont, New Jersey, before settling in Emerson, where she and JR built their life together and raised their daughter. Tara was one of the most caring and compassionate people you could ever meet. She always put others before herself and was known for going the extra mile for the people she loved. She had an incredible ability to understand what others were feeling and was always there to offer comfort, support, and kindness. She cared deeply for everyone in her life and always made the people around her feel loved, supported, and never alone.
Her greatest joy was being a mother to Tori, whom she supported wholeheartedly through every chapter of life. She was Tori's biggest supporter, always encouraging her, standing beside her, and loving her unconditionally. Their bond was one of the greatest loves of Tara's life.
Tara spent much of her career working in a salon before later finding her way into retail. Wherever she worked, she formed meaningful friendships and connections that lasted far beyond the workplace. She remained especially close with friends she had known since childhood.
Tara had a deep love for music and live performances and was famously able to remember the artist behind nearly any song. She loved going to concerts and listening to live music with her friends. A devoted New York Yankees fan, Tara also enjoyed watching and attending sporting events. In recent years, she developed a passion for traveling the world and visiting places she had never been before.
Tara adored her grandpups, Livi and Marley, who held an enormous piece of her heart.
Tara was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Barbara Leahy, and her brother, Billy. She leaves behind her family, lifelong friends, and countless others whose lives she touched with her kindness, compassion, and unconditional love.
Though she is no longer here, her love will remain with us always. JR and Tori find comfort in knowing that Tara will forever be by their side, watching over them and guiding them with the same love and care she gave them throughout her life. Her love will live on in their hearts and in the countless memories they will carry with them forever.
The family will receive their relatives and friends on Tuesday, August 11, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood.
A prayer service honoring Tara's life will be held on Wednesday, August 12, at 11:30 a.m. at Becker Funeral Home.
