KENNY Timothy J., 68, longtime resident of Emerson, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 3rd, 2026. Born in New York, NY and then moved to Dumont, NJ where he was raised. It was in Dumont where he met his wife Maryanne Kenny (née Kiernan) of 41 years. He attended Dominican University receiving his BA and later completing an MBA at St. Peter’s University. He was then employed with Hewlett Packard Enterprise for over 40 years ultimately retiring in 2022 as a Business Planning Manager. Being fully retired wasn’t all it was cracked up to be and found him looking for more. He decided semi-retirement was what he wanted and became the records clerk at the Emerson Police Department, a job he enjoyed very much until health issues required him to step aside. He is predeceased by his parents William & Patricia, and his stepmother Joan. He is survived by his wife Maryanne and two children: William (Billy) and his girlfriend Lia, Kristi and her fiancée Casey; siblings: Kevin Kenny and his fiancée Cindy, Stephen Kenny and his wife Kendall, Susanne Simon, Theresa Kelly and her husband James; step siblings: Veronica DeNardo and her husband James, Joseph Linde and his wife Margaret, in-laws: Patrick and Michelle Kiernan, Michael Kiernan, Eileen and Kevin Walsh: as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his two rescue cats, Teddy & Winnie.
Music was a lifelong passion of his, whether creating a playlist for a long car ride, hanging out on the beach, or setting the mood for a holiday dinner, he believed there was a song for every occasion. At holidays and parties he was found behind the camera trying to capture the moments friends and family shared together. Going to the gym was more than just keeping fit. He was frequently up at 5 am for his weekday workouts ultimately becoming a part of the “morning crew” and making many valuable friendships along the way. He loved seeing a familiar face and catching up, always willing to lend advice where he thought he could help. Reading was another passion and he always had a good book on the sidelines. The time spent with family and friends is what he valued most especially summer vacations in LBI with his wife and children. He will be greatly missed by them as well as all those whose lives he touched.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at the Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, Harrington Park, NJ on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 10 AM. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
