Viola Mundhenk

Viola Mundhenk “Vi” (nee Timmerman) 79, of Hillsdale, passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2017. Viola was born in the Bronx, New York and was raised in Coytsville, New Jersey where she met the love of her life, Lawrence. Viola is predeceased by her Parents, Viola and Richard Timmerman, and her son William Mundhenk. Viola leaves behind her husband Larry Mundhenk of 59 years and was a devoted mother of six including Barbara and husband Paul Castner, Lawrence and wife Laura, Richard and wife Maria, Marilyn, William who is deceased and Paul and his partner Mike Stefanelli. In addition, Viola had 10 grandchildren of which 2 she raised, Annette and Carrie. Violas other grandchildren included Larry, Katie, Emily, Amy, Brandon, Jonathan, Sarah and Dillon. Viola had a love for dogs, especially her devoted furry companions Lexi, Bailey, and Cocoa, who were always by her side. Viola was an employee of St. John’s Academy in Hillsdale, for many years and cherished her time with the children that attended. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Tuesday, January 24 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Viola's life and faith will be held at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Hillsdale, NJ on Wednesday, January 25 at 10:30AM. Everyone is requested to meet at the church Wednesday morning. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Bergen County Animal Shelter.
