Robert J. Sulick, 87, beloved husband for 57 years of Rita (Yaconiello) Sulick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Born in New Britain on June 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Adam and Anna (Fabian) Sulick. He was a graduate of New Britain High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the College of the Holy Cross. Bob served proudly in the U.S. Navy for two years. He went on to earn a Master’s Degree from the University of Hartford and his Sixth Year Degree from UConn. Bob was a dedicated Business Education teacher at Bulkeley High School for more than 30 years. He influenced and mentored countless students during his teaching career. Bob served as President of the Civitan Club of Wethersfield, as well as Treasurer for ARTC Scholarship Fund. He was a longtime faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and in many other capacities over the years. A talented musician, he played tenor saxophone and clarinet in the New Britain High School and Holy Cross Bands. Bob traveled extensively, both in the U.S. and internationally and enjoyed summers at Point O Woods in Old Lyme. He was an avid golfer and tennis player and a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers. More than anything, he was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be forever missed by his wife Rita; daughter, Anndra Brown of Simsbury and his two adored grandsons, Ryan and Kyle Brown. He is also survived by his cherished nieces and nephews, Bill, Greg and Rob Lanesey, Nancy Moynihan and Jim, Bob, John, Peter, Tom and Jane Sulick. He was sadly predeceased by his beloved son, Christopher Sulick; his brother, Dr. Edward Sulick and wife Mary Kay and his sister, Anna May Lanesey and husband Frank.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (August 26) at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
