I am so sorry to hear about my old high school buddy Kelly.
He was my best friend ever in all my school years.
I moved out of state but never forgot him.
I still to this date think of Kelly and all the things we did together.
His birthday and mine were almost the same. Mine is Oct. 30, 1939.
May this wonderful person rest in peace.

To The D' Aprile Family,
My sincere condolences on the recent loss of your father, Kelly.  My mother and father (Jane & Albert) were originally long standing customers with your grandfather, Vito on Windsor Street way before I was born in the 1950's.  I was lucky to meet Vito as a child, and remember my folks having Espresso with him in the back room of D & D Market years later. You were not just a customer, you were a friend.
For over 35 years my parents shopped at the D & D in Hartford, and looked to Kelly as a dear friend.  He was one of kind, and he was always wearing a wink and a smile!
With this sad news, I am flooded with sweet memories of my youth and trips to D & D Market and being greeted by Kelly with a friendly Hello, and how is the family conversation.  Sometimes you never the value of a moment until it becomes a memory!
As I grew up and moved to west coast, I always made it a point to stop by with my dad to day Hello to Kelly on my annual visits to CT.  It was just like old times, and nice to reconnect.

My family will always remember Kelly. He delivered food to my Grandparents on Putnam St in Hartford in the 50’s. My Grandmother would always greet Kelly and talk to him.  He was a kind and loyal person. He was out of a time that we will never see again. 

To the family of Kelly D'APRILE.    We are so sorry for your loss. I worked with Kelly at the package store for 18 years . He was always good to work with and to me and others at the  store.  Many a time after closing we would stop at Carbones  Rest. for a glass of wine. He definitely will be missed by many. He was a good friend !

Like many of us, I grew up going to D&D and, having grown up just off Wolcott Hill Road, was thrilled when they moved to Wethersfield.  I saw Mr. D'Aprile every time I went into the store as he greeted everyone and was such a genuine, caring person.  I am so sorry for your loss - he will be missed by SO many.  Sending his family lots of love and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear of Kelly's passing.  He was part of a great legacy, the D&D grocery store.  I met Kelly when I was shopping at the store on Franklin Avenue.  I was looking at spaghetti sauces and he recommended the store brand, which I bought and liked.  I asked him if he worked here and he introduced himself as Kelly and he was the owner.  I told him how I remember shopping with my mother at the original store  on Temple Street.  My mother used to call the D&D once a month and put in an order that was delivered free to our home in the North End of Hartford.  I told Kelly my mother's name and he remembered our address.  He delivered to her.  My sister was in the store with me and all 3 of us shared a lot of good memories of the old D&D.  He told me how he saved the wooden display boxes to put in the new store.   It felt so good talking to him.  I happened to be in the new store in Wethersfield and asked for Kelly.  The clerk said he did not come in to the store anymore.  I was sorry I did not get to see him again.  I noticed that there were photographs of the old store on the wall.   Just from my one time meeting him, I could see he was a special person.

Kelly lived near me in Harford. I lived on Bates Street, Kelly lived on Fairfield Ave. We both graduated Buckeley High, class of 1957.
When he was young he delivered groceries to my mother's house for many years. Kelly was a great guy and fun to be with. He will be missed.

On behalf of the Maida family, I want to extend our deepest condolences to Kelly’s family, work colleagues and friends. My father Patsy, had the great privilege of working for Kelly at D&D for nearly 50 years. He thought very highly of Kelly and the entire D’Aprile family. We were always so grateful for how much Kelly respected and supported dad’s work  throughout his career at D&D. He definitely was more than a boss to Patsy and  dad has probably greeted Kelly with open arms as he entered Heaven and with a big plate of “giuggiulena” cookies. I also had the opportunity to work for Kelly during my high school and college years and greatly appreciated all he did to endure me while I was acquiring the work ethic that was required by my dad and the store.  A great learning experience. Well beyond those years he always affectionately greeted me as Twiggy” when we visited dad at the store. Please know how much Kelly has meant to all of us and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this very sad time. I’m certain that the many fond  memories he has left you will help lessen the sorrow you are currently feeling. With deepest sympathy and love, Tony and the entire Maida family

My sincerest condolences to Kelly's family upon his passing. 
I can still remember the many happy times I spent at the D'Aprile household during the '50's and '60's sharing joys with Mr. and Mrs. D'Aprile and their children,  Marie,  Ben,  Kelly,  and Theresa. Every Thursday Mrs. D'Aprile would make the best tasting pasta for all of us and our school buddies at a moment's notice. And who could forget a visit to the D & D where I would be so graciously greeted by Mr.  D'Aprile  and later, Kelly, who would never let me leave without offering the freshest cold cuts or the most delectable fruit. I’m so very sorry for your lose. Kelly was my first boss back in the 70’s and helped shape my work ethic to what it is today. He and his family were wonderful. He will be greatly missed. May he Rest In Peace and May god watch over his family during these difficult times

As a former South ender,  who !!! didn't  go to D&D market or package store!! He always had a Smile!! An a jokester!  As everyone  who knew him.  Always at D&D 2/3 times a week!! Everyone was friendly,  how I do miss little Italy!!! Born an raised, This is a Celebration  of Life!!!  Rest in Peace!!!  An to the Whole Family!! What a wonderful  Man!! My sincere condolences to the D'Aprile family.

I recall going into the D&D store all through my childhood, often with my dad (Angelo Arcata) who delivered for Guglietta Dairy.

Kelly was always there with a smile. Dad said Kelly was  the kind of person who looked on the bright side.  I very much appreciated that he paid his respects when my parents passed, though he had not seen them in some time.
