

Aldo ""Poppy"" DiPietro, 88, of Middletown, beloved husband of Josephine (Lenares) DiPietro, passed away suddenly in Fort Myers, Florida on June 24, 2015, surrounded by loved ones. Aldo was born in Pratola Peligna, Italy on October 1, 1926 and was the son of the late Vittorio and Virginia (DiPillo) DiPietro. He moved to the United States in 1959 and met Josephine that same year when he needed a translator to figure out a bus fare. They wed April 30, 1960 and were blessed with more than 55 wonderful years together. He was a tool and die maker who retired from Wiremold in 1991. Aldo was a member of the Pratolana Mutual Benefit Society and enjoyed gardening, especially roses, and watching Italian soccer games. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Josephine; his son and daughter-in-law Vittorio Lucian and Therese Marie DiPietro and his three adored grandchildren, Anna Maria, Nicholas Paul, and Amanda Catherine DiPietro, all of Middletown. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Lucian and Joan DiPietro and their three children; his sister-in-law, Rita DiPietro of Italy and two nephews. Additionally, he is survived by many other nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Aldo was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Albert Iacobucci, and his brother, Italo DiPietro. Special recognition and thanks must be given to Aldo’s daughter-in-law, Terri, who handled his health care management here in CT as well as in FL and to his loving niece, Grace Burns in Florida, who brought him to doctors' appointments, ran errands, and sat by his side until the end.
Funeral services will leave Wednesday (July 1) at 9 a.m. from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington St., Middletown. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
