

Alice (Lund) Jensen 92, passed away peacefully at home on (January 19, 2008). Alice was born February 2, 1915 in Newington, CT, the daughter of the late Anders and Anna (Nielsen) Lund. She was the beloved and devoted wife of John A. Jensen for over 67 years. Alice graduated from New Britain High School, Class of 1932 and lived in Newington and Wethersfield all of her life. She served as Office Secretary for the Greater Hartford Girl Scouts before her marriage. She was the longest living member of the Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church serving as the Church Clerk for over 25 years and as a Sunday School teacher. In addition, Alice loved to play golf and was a 50-year member of the Wethersfield Country Club and a long time member of the Connecticut Women's Golf Association. Besides her loving husband, Alice leaves her three children: son John A. (Jack) Jensen, Jr. and his wife Audrey; and daughters Louise Oxenhorn, and Lynn Nappi and her husband Mark, all of Wethersfield. She leaves three grandchildren: Matthew Jensen and his wife Suzanne of Kodiak, AK, Mark Jensen of Pittsburgh, PA and Luke Jensen and his wife Mary Kay of Somerville, MA; four great grandchildren Justin, David, Emily and Alison; one sister Nellie French Hellijas; and many nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her four sisters and two brothers: Marion Christiansen, Kay Lund, Edith Madama, Ann Jensen , Andrew Lund and Howard Lund. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Amy, Sonia and Edward for their kind and compassionate care they have given to Alice. Friends and family are invited to gather at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield on Monday, January 21 from 4-7 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 22 at the Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church, 511 Maple Street, Wethersfield, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
