Amanda G. Allen

Amanda G. (LeVasseur) Allen, 89, of Rocky Hill, died peacefully, Friday (August 26, 2011) at Jefferson House, Newington with her loving daughters by her bedside. She was born September 22, 1921 in Van Buren, Maine and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Emily (Gervais) LeVasseur. Amanda retired in 1989 after many years of employment at Jefferson Radiology at Hartford Hospital. She was a longtime faithful communicant of St. James Church, Rocky Hill. Amanda touched the hearts and lives of everyone she met with her kindness, humor and selflessness. Her family meant the world to her and they will miss her dearly. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Sandra Belanger and husband, Richard of Rocky Hill and Carol Graczyk and husband, Richard of Windsor; her son-in-law, Thomas Gancarz; four grandchildren, Kenneth and Deborah Gancarz, Robert Belanger and wife, Caroline and Jeffrey Belanger and wife, Amanda; three great grandchildren, Shelby and Ben Gancarz and Kylie Belanger; her brother, Norman LeVasseur and wife, Margaret, her sisters, Victoria Cote and husband, Paul, Marcella Walz and husband, George, Martha Grimaldi and husband, Albert, Ann Marie Fene and husband, Kim and Priscilla Hughes and husband, Jack as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert A. Allen and her daughter, Barbara Gancarz as well as five brothers and two sisters. Sandy and Carol would like to extend a very special thank you to the nurses and caregivers on the 2nd floor, Morgan Unit at Jefferson House for the love, care and compassion shown to their Mother. Prayer Service will be Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. The burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Tuesday morning from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel.
