

Angelo Michael D’Ambrosio, 98, a 70-year resident of Rocky Hill and 61-year resident of Westbrook, loving and devoted husband of Concetta “Connie” (LaRosa) D’Ambrosio for 71 years, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side. Born September 18, 1919 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Francesco and Incoronata (Magliano) D’Ambrosio, who emigrated from Bisaccia Avelleno, Italy. Angelo graduated from Bulkeley High School in Hartford and was a proud WW II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He attended trade school to obtain a plumbing and heating license in the State of CT and worked for Local 76 for 38 years. Angelo spent most of his career working for ACME Plumbing & Heating Co. in Hartford, retiring as projects and field superintendent. He was superintendent for many large projects in Connecticut, including the Farmington Medical Dental Center, Continuing Care Unit of Hartford Hospital, Waterbury Hospital, Bushnell Plaza, Constitution Plaza, Felician Sisters of Enfield, Poquonock Sewage Disposal Plant, Manchester Community College, Hartford Civic Center, Glastonbury Sewage Disposal Plant and many schools in Hartford and the surrounding suburbs. After retiring from ACME, he worked for six years as Clerk of Works for the Wethersfield Housing Authority and then Glastonbury Housing Authority, as well as for the State of CT Department of Housing for eight years. Angelo was a member of the Rocky Hill Seniors, the Young Italian American Association of Hartford, the American Legion, BPOE 2308 Wethersfield-Rocky Hill and the Hartford Chapter of UNICO National. He was an active parishioner of St. James Church, Rocky Hill and St. Mark’s, Westbrook.
Angelo was sadly predeceased by his beautiful daughter, Antonia “Toni” Berdn; two brothers, Joseph and Anthony D’Ambrosio and three sisters, Josephine McCaulif, Sara Cherry and Marge Rice. He will be forever missed by his wife Connie; his son, Michael A. D’Ambrosio and wife Pamela McGrail; two adored granddaughters, Clarissa McCloy and Janelle D’Ambrosio; two cherished great-granddaughters, Isabella and Clara McCloy; three godsons, Anthony LaRosa, Michael Bordieri and Dr. Thomas Pane; sister-in-law, Millie Pane and husband Michael, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish at St. James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. The burial with military honors will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
