

Anthony “Tony” H. Santucci, 95, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 69 years of Mildred (Caramma) Santucci, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Born in New Britain on February 7, 1930, he was the son of the late Sam and Rose (Voli) Santucci. Tony attended St. Mary’s School, Washington Junior High and graduated from New Britain High School in 1947. He served proudly in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1952. This included a two- year assignment in Alaska with the Alaska Air Command during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, Tony attended the University of Connecticut and received a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering and later earned a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, also from UConn. He worked as an Electrical Engineer at the Royal Typewriter Company, a Research Engineer at the Pratt & Whitney Div. of Colt Industries and as an Engineering manager at McBee Systems Div. of Litton Ind. He then spent 27 years with Gerber Scientific Instrument as an Engineering Manager, Operations Manager and later as manager of Customer Support. A good deal of his work in the early days involved designing special data processing and computing systems when this was in its infancy.
Tony was active in youth activities in Wethersfield. In his early days, he enjoyed playing golf. He was a huge Yankees and Giants fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He also had a special place in his heart for his ‘granddogs,’ Eddie and Beaux. Above all, Tony was full of love for his family and friends. He was adored by all who knew him.
Tony especially took pride in belonging to the Wethersfield Chapter of UNICO National, where he was a charter member. He was active in most of the group’s activities, especially its annual Macaroni Dinner and annual Golf Tournament, where he served as a Chairman for many years. In 2013, he was honored with a Special Service Award by the Chapter. He remained active until his death.
In addition to his parents, Tony was predeceased by his sister, Ellen Lachowicz; in-laws, Joseph and Angela Caramma; his beloved niece, Tracy Tabshey and his brother-in-law, Sal Julian.
He will be forever missed by his loving wife Mildred; his daughter, Linda Olesen and husband Drew; his son, Joseph Santucci and his daughter, Tami Santucci, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Hailey and Dylan Olesen. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Peggy Julian, his nieces, Angela Julian and husband Karl Urban and Diane Julian-Dudas and husband Ken Dudas; Mary Ellen Lachowicz, Jean Heer, her husband Bernard and son Carl along with brother-in-law, Donald Lachowicz, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 8 at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church of Christ the King Parish, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will be private. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
