Antonio (Tony) Farina, 84, of Wethersfield, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital. He was the husband of Concetta (Tina) Amenta Farina. Born in Canicattini Bagni, Sicily, Italy on January 17, 1936, he was the only son of Sebastiano and Corradina (Conac) Farina. Tony emigrated from Sicily in 1953 to Montreal, Canada before settling in Connecticut and marrying his wife in 1962. He was a foreman at Manchester Modes before starting his own restaurant, Sal’s Pizza and Grinder shop on Sisson Avenue in Hartford. In his youth, Tony loved to play soccer. He was a former manager and member of the Italian American Stars A.C Soccer Team and was a lifelong fan of the Juventus Soccer Club. He enjoyed watching Montreal Canadians and was a follower of the Hartford Whalers. With great pride in his heritage, Tony was a loyal member of the Canicattinese Society and Italian American Stars Club for many years. He enjoyed bowling, soccer, and spending time with family and friends. Besides his wife of 58 years, Tony is survived by a son, Michael Farina and his partner Meredith Watson of Bethel, a daughter, Angela Taylor and her husband Dean of East Lyme, six grandchildren, Nicole (Eric), Ivy and Ashley Farina and Cassidy, Mia and Phoebe Taylor. His sister- in– law Nella Gulino, nephew Paul Gulino and his wife Pina, along with their children Seby, Alex, and Gabriella. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law Pasquale Gulino, niece Lucia Gulino, sister-in-law Lucia Amenta and mother-in-law Maria Amenta. Funeral Services will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday (February 5th) at D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish (Corpus Christi Church) 601 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday (February 4th) at the funeral chapel.
