

Antonio Leone, 91, of Hartford, beloved husband of the late Margherita (Orsini) Leone, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025 with his loving family by his side. Born on August 20, 1933 in Salandra, province of Matera, Italy, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Irene (Loporcaro) Leone.
Antonio and Margherita married in 1959, and they made their home and raised their family in Hartford’s South End. Antonio worked as a machinist for Fafner Bearing, retiring after many years of dedicated service.
He enjoyed walking, gardening, traveling and most recently, going to the senior center to shoot pool. Most of all, Antonio enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Antonio is survived by his devoted children, Joseph Leone, his wife, Ida, of Bristol, Irena Dos Santos, her husband, Carlos, of Bristol, and Cristina Leone of Bristol. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Cristina McIntyre, her husband, Scott, Carlos “CJ” Dos Santos and Stephanie Santos, Anthony Leone and Elizabeth Jackson, and Joseph “Joey” Leone. Antonio leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Rylan and Austin he also leaves his many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Antonio was predeceased by his infant daughter, “Baby Leone” along with his siblings, Francesco, Carmela, Caterina, Maria, Adelina, Rosina, Michelina, Ritella, Giovannina and Tristano.
In lieu of flowers, Antonio’s family asks that donations in his memory be made to the Connecticut Cancer Foundation, a charity that has been very near and dear to the family for many years. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 29th from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. Entombment will be at Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
