

Bette A. Lawton, 76, of Wethersfield, wife of the late Richard A. Lawton, joined him in heaven on Tuesday, (August 26, 2008). Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Isaac and Amelia (Hewitt) York, Bette lived in Wethersfield for the past 51 years. She was a very active member of The South Congregational Church in Hartford where she served as a deacon. Bette was also a member of the Red Hat Society, an avid reader and a devoted family member and wonderful friend to all. Bette is survived by three loving children and their spouses; a son, Scott R. Lawton and his wife Patricia of Marlborough; two daughters, Sharon Howes and her husband Jonathan of Wethersfield and Lynda O'Connell and her husband John of Middletown; eight cherished grandchildren, Staci, Heather, Carrie, Alaura, Marc, Rachel, Kelly and Joseph; four great grandchildren and her best friend and companion, her dog, Ginger. Funeral service will be Saturday, August 30 at 10 a.m. at the South Congregational Church, 277 Main Street, Hartford. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours will be Friday, August 29 from 4?7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield.
