Brian James Heffernan

Brian James Heffernan, 34, of Wethersfield died peacefully in the arms of his mother, father and brother at Hartford Hospital on Thursday, (May 18, 2006). He was born on December 8, 1971 in Syracuse, NY to James and Kathleen (McGuire) Heffernan. He was a graduate of the Wethersfield school system and worked at the Greater Hartford Association for Retarded Citizens. Two of Brian's favorite activities were playing baseball with the Wethersfield Challenger Baseball League and being in and around the water. Besides his loving parents, Brian is survived by his older brother John Willard Heffernan and his wife Kate of Hudson, OH and their children Patrick, William & Conor; grandmothers Marie McGuire Taylor of Vero Beach, FL and Dorothea Heffernan of Whiting, NJ; a special aunt Michlene Frazier of River Edge, NJ; uncles Peter Heffernan of Chesterfield, MO and Christopher Heffernan of Arnold, MD; and many wonderful cousins. He is also survived by his HARC family of dedicated caregivers, and his housemates Michael, Wayne, Suzanne, Melanie and Jamie. Brian's family would like to extend special thanks to the loving and devoted staff at HARC; his teachers and friends at the Wethersfield Public Schools; Brian's Big Moose Lake family and friends; the staff of Hartford Hospital Emergency Room and the Interventional Radiology Department; and Dr. Michele Smedley, Dr. Steven Conway and Dr. Fielding Johnson who cared for and treated Brian with dignity and respect. Funeral services will be Monday, May 22, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St, Wethersfield. Those who wish to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Private burial will follow in Village Cemetery in Wethersfield.
