Carmela Tordonato, 93, beloved wife of the late Gino Tordonato, Sr., passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026 with her family by her side. Carmela was born on July 19, 1933 in Siracusa, Sicily and was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Maria (Tordonato) Alfano.
Carmela was a hard-working unselfish woman who always sacrificed for her family and friends. She was an excellent cook; she took pride in creating delicious meals for her family and friends to enjoy. Carmela was a woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, her family and her friends.
Carmela will be missed by her sons Gino Tordonato, Jr. and his wife Angelina and Anthony Tordonato. She will be especially missed by her cherished grandchildren, Roberto, Corrado, Victoria, Alex, Cole, Lorenzo, Marcello and Santino along with her sister Nella Reale and her husband Antonio and Lucia Aliano and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Carmela is predeceased by her brother Vincenzo Alfano, daughter-in-law Nancy Tordonato and brother-in-law Paolo Aliano.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, August 10 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. Burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
