Carmelo Santiago Jr.

Carmelo “Mello” Santiago, Jr., 58, of Hartford, beloved long-time partner of Olga M. Acosta and son of Carmen and Jose Castro and the late Carmelo Santiago Sr. Mello passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025 at home with his family by his side. Carmelo was born on August 19, 1966 in Newburgh, NY. Carmelo was a talented barber, owning and operating his own barbershop. He was the heart of our home, a steady source of love, wisdom, and laughter. A man whose presence could light up any room, especially with his unforgettable smile. His children were his greatest pride and joy. As a grandfather “Papa”, his love for family grew even greater.

In addition to his mother, Carmelo sadly leaves his children, Carmelo Santiago, III, his only loving daughter, Krystal Santiago Flores (“Joey”), Joshua L. Santiago (Suly), Xavier Rivera and his cherished grandchildren, Jalisse, Aniyah, Kylie, Madison, Jacob, Savannah, Aasyon, and Xileah. He also leaves his brothers, Lewis Pacheco, Jose Pacheco and Robert Pacheco (Yolanda); his sisters, Carmen Pacheco and Quetcy Santiago. Sadly, Carmelo was predeceased by a grandson, Jaxson Santiago.

The family will receive relatives and friends Friday, February 28 from 10 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. concluding with a service at 1:00 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.

Burial at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield will immediately follow the service.
