

Carmina (Ficocelli) Cusano, 94, of Middletown and formerly West Hartford, beloved wife for 59 years of the late Giovanni Cusano, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sepino, province of Campobasso, Italy on November 18, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Flaminia (Tiberio) Ficocelli. Carmina came to the U.S. in 1955. She was a talented dressmaker who was a perfectionist when it came to her sewing. Carmina loved cooking and tending to her garden, especially her fig trees. More than anything, she adored her family and was happiest when they were all together.
Carmina will be forever missed by her loving son, Luigi Cusano and wife Linda of Middletown, with whom she made her home; two adored grandchildren, Amy Vollono and husband Stephen of North Haven and John Cusano and wife Sherry of Alexandria, VA and her three cherished great-grandchildren, Sophia and Eric Vollono and Abigail Cusano. In addition to her husband and parents, Carmina was sadly predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Caroline Cusano; her brother, Valentino Ficocelli and her sister, Annunziata “Nancy” Ficocelli. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 Quaker Lane South, West Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Section X, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carmina’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
