Carolina Carla"" (Caiazzo) Parente

Carolina “Carla” (Caiazzo) Parente, of East Harford and formerly Hartford, beloved wife of the late Fiore “Shiek” Parente for 60 years, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday (April 19, 2014). Carolina was born in Naples, Italy on January 5, the daughter of the late Paulo and Anuzitina Caiazzo. She was crowned Miss Naples before moving to the United States. She worked at Travelers for over 55 years. Carla was always full of life and energy, and loved spending her time walking and with her family. Family always came first, and she loved taking care of them. She enjoyed talking to people, laughing and having a good time with them. Carla was a hard worker who had many friends who loved and cared for her. She was a devoted Born Again Christian who has now gone to be with her Lord. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Carla will be dearly missed by her two children, Nunzio P. Parente and wife Mara and Rose T. Neary and husband Gregory; eight adored grandchildren, Gregory C. Neary Jr. and his wife Christine, Carla A. Neary-Bellizzi and her husband Frank, Salvatore Neary and his wife Lisa, Gino Parente, Nunzio Parente Jr., Adam Parente, Armando Parente and Casey Parente and nine adored great-grandchildren, Gregory C. Neary III, Sophia R. Neary, Anthony Bellizzi, Christina Bellizzi, Vincent Neary, Salvatore Neary Jr., Angelina Bellizzi, Alana Neary, and Haley Parente. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Josie Ficara and Pat Parente, as well as one brother and two sisters in Italy. Besides her beloved husband and her parents, Carla was predeceased by one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be Thursday (April 24) at 11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield with Pastor Bim Rowley officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday morning prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m., at the funeral chapel.
