Caterina Barranco

Caterina (Crescenzi) Barranco, 90, of West Hartford and formerly Wethersfield, loving wife for 60 years of the late Salvatore Barranco, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Born in Perugia, province of Umbria, Italy on May 28, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Turido and Maria (Zeetti) Crescenzi. Caterina was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening and canning. She was happiest when she was cooking for her family and spending time with them. A loving mother and grandmother, Caterina will be forever missed by her children, Alessandro Barranco and wife Marie of Colchester and Francesca Barranco and husband John F. Sims of West Hartford, with whom she made her home, and her adored grandson, Giovanni Barranco Sims of West Hartford. She is also survived by a cousin, Letezia; a nephew, Giovanni and a step-sister, Giuliana, all of Italy. In addition to her husband and parents, she was sadly predeceased by her beloved son, Giovanni Barranco. Special thanks to Maria, Caterina’s caregiver over the last few years.

Calling hours will be Saturday (June 30) from 8:15-9:15 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford.
