Catherine Frances Finocchiaro

Catherine “Caitie” Finocchiaro, 42, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of James M. Hursty for five years, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Born in New Britain on January 27, 1984, she was the daughter of Salvatore Finocchiaro (Novlette Earlington) and Doreen (LaBarre) Balimidi (Hari Balimidi). Caitie grew up in both Wethersfield and Rocky Hill, graduating from Rocky Hill High School in 2002. She went on to receive her Cosmetology license from the International Institute of Cosmetology, making many friends along the way.

Caitie had many creative talents including scrapbooking, cooking for her family and friends, and most recently, gardening. She loved the ocean ever since she was a little girl and was happiest when she was there. She also enjoyed frequenting the many Farmers Markets throughout the state.

In addition to her husband James, Caitie will be forever missed by her brothers, Santo Finocchiaro and his husband Todd McGehan of Manchester, Richard Finocchiaro and his daughter Lilliana of South Windsor, grandmother, Helen LaBarre of East Hartford, Mother-in-Law, Jane Dietz (Frances Dietz) of Clifton Park, NY, Father-in-law Ralph Hursty (Cindy Hursty) of Rocky Hill.

She also leaves behind extended family, including step-brother Gavin Marshall of Manchester and his daughter Avanah and son Gavin Jr, her step-sister Jovanie Gordon of Wethersfield and her daughter Novah, brothers-in laws Adam Hursty and his wife Lori and their children Joshua and Charlotte of Rocky Hill, Brian Dietz of Clifton Park NY, sister-in law Karen Morano and her husband Alex along with their children Steven, Xavier, and Natalie of Windsor, and her lifelong friend Fortunella (Fortune) Indomenico, (Robert Cupial) and their children Carissa Cupial and goddaughter Bianca Cupial of Newington, in addition to several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Santo and Antonia Finocchiaro, Grandfather Robert LaBarre Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 767 Elm St, Rocky Hill. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
