Catherine Elizabeth Palermino (Tozzi)

Catherine Elizabeth (Tozzi) Palermino, 87, of Hartford, loving wife of the late Joseph Anthony Palermino, entered into eternal rest Sunday, (April 1, 2012). She was born June 16, 1924 in Rapone, Italy and came to the United States with her father when she was five years old. Catherine was the daughter of the late Peter and Nellie (Morline) Tozzi. She was employed at the former Puritan Maid Baking Company and Bulkeley High School Cafeteria. She was a member of the South End Ladies Democratic Club, the Romulea Bisaccia Women's Society, the Chit Chat Club, a communicant of St. Augustine's Church, Hartford and the South End Senior Center at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church. Catherine was an avid fan of the UConn Women's Basketball Team and enjoyed Bingo nights with her girlfriends. Catherine is survived by her children: Anthony J. Palermino of Newington, Peter J. and Paula Palermino of West Hartford, and Linda M. and Jose Caraballo of South Windsor; and her grandchildren: John Joseph Cashman of Hartford, with whom she shared her home, Andre Roman Caraballo of West New York, NJ, Stephanie Marie Caraballo of South Windsor, and Lauren Ashley Palermino, and Caitlin Jane Palermino of West Hartford. She also leaves a special daughter, Debra Palermino of West Hartford; beloved sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews Laura Shunney, Richard Palermino, Gianna Alden and Daniel Palermino and their families; and very special long-time friends and cousins.

Funeral service will be Wednesday (April 4) at 9:15 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. The burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are TODAY from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
