It is with deep sadness that we share the sudden passing of Charlton “Charlie” Matthew Carey of East Hampton on Wednesday June 3, 2026 at the age of 48. Charlie was born in Hartford on January 20, 1978, and was the loving son of the late Joseph Daniel Carey, Jr. and Elaine (Moreau) Carey. He grew up in East Hartford and was a graduate of East Hartford High School. Charlie was the lifetime love of Jordyn Cooney. They built a beautiful life over the past 27 years. Together they were raising their three adored children Taryn 11, Hartlyn 9 and Charlton 7. Charlie was the proud owner of CMC Enterprises in Bloomfield, where he specialized in emergency sewer and water repair. Charlie was passionate about his work, following in his father’s footsteps and achieving great success in his field. He took immense pride in every job completed. He dedicated himself fully to ensure every project reflected his commitment and excellence. As much as he was passionate about his work, he equally loved to have fun - riding his motorcycle, playing with his countless toys, and spending any free time on the go with his family. Charlie was not one to sit and he packed every Sunday with family adventure. Boating, snowmobiling and roller skating were often on the agenda after Sunday breakfast, always in between looking at jobs. Nothing made him happier than experiencing anything or anywhere new with his kids.
Charlie leaves so many who will miss him dearly: his brother, Joseph Carey, III of Wethersfield and his children Jesse (great-nieces Meadow and Ivy great-nephew Oakland) Danny and Jordyn; his sister, Johanna Carey-Lang and husband Aaron of East Hartford and their children Chris, Grace (great-nieces Eliana and Everly), Danielle, Charlie and DonnaAnn and his sister, Alanna Carey of Niantic, as well as many extended family members, good friends and business associates.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 12 at 10 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Charlie's work, his love for family and his joyful spirit will forever be remembered by all who knew him. Until we meet again.
