Christy Christine Smart

Christy ""Christine"" Smart, 59, of Rocky Hill, passed away unexpectedly on Monday (June 6, 2011). Born on May 27, 1952 in Bangor, ME, she was the daughter of Jerome C. Smart of Wethersfield and the late Madelene (Cummings) Smart. She was a 1970 graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy and worked as a legal secretary for several years. More recently she took an interest in alternative therapies, which included essential oils, vitamin therapy and health and wellness. Christy loved helping people and enjoyed kayaking and being at the beach getting tan. Besides her father, she is survived by her loving daughter, Ashley Crystal Sharkevich and her boyfriend Michael Rinaldi of East Hartford; her brother, David Smart of Mexico; her sister, Jane Smart of West Hartford; her nephew, Evan Smart; her niece, Amity Niles; her dear friend, Kris Tracy as well as many other friends and family members. Christy will also be missed by her special friend, her cat Rapha. ""Mom, your journey has forever made me who I am today and I love you.""

Funeral service will be Friday (June 10) at 11 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Donations in Christy's memory will be used to establish a scholarship fund in her name at A.I. Prince Technical High School where her daughter Ashley is a counselor. Please make checks payable to A.I.
