Claudette Ann Grubelich

Claudette (Belliveau) Grubelich, 90, of Wethersfield, passed away surrounded by her loving family on May 23, 2021. She was the wife of Francis Grubelich for 68 years, whom she met while they were students at the University of Connecticut. Claudette was born in New Britain Dec. 1, 1930. She graduated from New Britain High School, attended the University of Connecticut, the University of New Hampshire and graduated from Central Connecticut University. Claudette worked for H&R Block, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the National Institute of Health (NIH). She loved working as a grants manager for NIH in Bethesda, MD and retired from work at the young age of 83 years old. Francis and Claudette were charter members of the Pine Acres Swim and Tennis Club in Wethersfield and founding members of the Church of the Incarnation. She was a member of the League of Women Voters. Claudette loved to travel with family and friends to the U.S. National Parks, Cape Hatteras, Cape Cod, Longboat Key, Florida as well as several trips abroad. She was very athletic and loved to play tennis and swim. Claudette and Frank frequently visited the US Open Tennis Championships at Flushing Meadows, NY with their adult children. Claudette enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid reader. Claudette leaves a son Dr. Francis Grubelich, wife Dr. Heidi Gjersoe of Richland, MI, a son Thomas Grubelich, wife Dr. Marti Rothe of Farmington, CT and a daughter Gail (Grubelich) Jacobson, husband John Jacobson, of Greensboro NC as well as nine grandchildren, a son-in-law, Dr. Herbert Freiman and numerous nieces and nephews. Claudette was predeceased by her husband Francis, parents Arthur and Marie (Provost) Belliveau, brother Peter Belliveau and daughters Dr. Lee (Grubelich) Freiman and Sarah Grubelich. A private visitation for immediate and extended family members will be on Saturday, June 12th from 9-10 a.m. at D’Esopo Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, Connecticut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 12th at the Church of Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. The public is asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Old Wethersfield.
