

Colin J. Shaughnessy, 48, of Lebanon, beloved husband of Sabina (Nietupska) Shaughnessy and beloved father of Ian F. Shaughnessy, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010. He was born May 24, 1962 in Hartford, son of the late Frank and Loretta (Landa) Shaughnessy. He graduated from South Catholic High School in Hartford in 1980 and was a 1983 graduate of the University of Connecticut. Colin was a manager at D’Aprile Package Store in Hartford. He participated in the Transplant Olympic Games and volunteered with the National Kidney Foundation. An avid card player he enjoyed visits to the casino, and was a certified scuba diver. Colin’s greatest joy in life was his loving family. Besides his wife and son, Colin is survived by his brothers Brian Shaughnessy and his wife Kathleen of Southington and Kevin Shaughnessy of Whitinsville, MA, several nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends, including Anne Brady. The family extends special thanks to the North 11 Transplant Unit at Hartford Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care, as well as Dr. Matthew Carley, and the Rocky Hill Dialysis Unit. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 18th at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 67 West Town Street, Lebanon. Burial will be at a later date. There are no calling hours.
