Born in Lenola, in the province of Latina, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Laurina and Gugliemo Panno. Concetta came of age in the shadow of World War II, an experience that helped shape the fierce independence, resilience, and determination that would define her life. As a young woman, she opened her own market in the piazza of her village (an uncommon accomplishment at the time) and became known for her strength of character and adventurous spirit. Nicknamed “la Bionda” (the Blonde), she traveled the Italian countryside in her beloved Fiat 500, infamously navigating without working brakes (she, instead, skillfully relied on the parking brake to glide her safely to a stop). She lived boldly, refused to be constrained by expectations, and charted her own course in life. She loved “her” Lenola.
Later immigrating to the United States, Concetta built a life centered on family, hard work, sacrifice, and generosity. She married her cherished husband, Joseph Lalli Sr., with whom she shared 43 years of marriage before his passing in 2010. Together they built a family grounded in love, perseverance, and devotion. She believed in the gifts and the potential of her children, and her grandchildren, until they couldn’t help but believe in themselves.
Concetta gave freely and selflessly, often going without to ensure her children had what they needed. Her kindness and generosity touched countless lives, and her strength became a guiding example to those around her.
She is survived by her loving children, Joseph, and his wife, Dana, Maria, and her husband, Mederic, and by her grandchildren, Aiden, Cole, Olivia, and Joelle, who were the great joy and light of her later years. She adored them deeply and taught them, by word and example, to be strong, fearless, and fiercely loyal to family. They loved her right back.
Concetta’s life was one of courage, sacrifice, determination, and love. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she leaves behind her brothers, Gino, Umberto, and Domenico Panno, sister-in-Law Gisella Panno and many nieces nephews including Andreina Ribeiro and her husband Jack, Corrado Panno, Americo D’Appollonio Jr and his wife Carmela., Manuela Panno, Laura Panno-Beebe and her husband William, Josephine Rudyk, Roberto Panno and his wife Trish and Fabrizia DiMaio and her husband James and several grandnieces. She was predeceased by her sister, Giulia D’Appollonio, brother, Lucio Panno and her brother-in-law, Americo D’Appollonio Sr.
