Concetta Connie"" (Amenta) Scata

Concetta ""Connie"" (Amenta) Scata, 93, of Wethersfield, beloved wife for 56 years of the late Paolino Scata, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Hartford Hospital. Born October 27, 1922 in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Santo and Francesca (Cianci) Amenta and had lived in Wethersfield since 1967. Connie was a longtime faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. Connie retired from Southern New England Telephone as a Supervisor in 1981 after many years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, the Incarnation Woman’s Club and a former member of the Canicattinese Society. Connie loved her New York Yankees and UCONN Huskies Basketball, but most of all loved making homemade pizza and desserts that she would share with her family and friends. A loving mother and grandmother, Connie will be dearly missed by her two devoted daughters, Ann Nina Maratta and her husband, Sebastian “Sandy” of Berlin and Frances Marotta and her husband, Carmine of Rocky Hill, her three adored grandchildren, Frank Paul Maratta, D.M.D., Concetta Ann Maratta, Alissa Ann Marotta and her husband Brian Slapinsky, her brother and sister-in-law, Salvatore and Marie Amenta of Wethersfield, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Giangreco. Connie’s family would like to thank her caregiver Rosa Hurtado, Josh Croen, M.D. and the Hartford Hospital 10th Floor Staff for their care and compassion.

The funeral is Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St. Wethersfield. Entombment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to M.S.
