David Alan Warriner

June 15, 1957March 14, 2020

David A. Warriner, 62, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband for 25 years of Susan (Baio) Warriner, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Born in Northampton, MA on June 15, 1957, he was the son of the late Wayne and Lee (Turner) Warriner. Dave received a Bachelor’s Degree from CCSU. He was a Wethersfield police officer for 25 years, attaining the title of Sergeant and serving as a DARE Officer within the Wethersfield Elementary Schools. He currently worked as a security guard at Newington High School, where he was affectionately known as “Officer Dave.” He was a member of the Hartford Golf League, enjoyed playing ice hockey and softball, and was an avid flight tracker, ice cream aficionado, newspaper reader, and milk drinker. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good pun. Dave was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants and Hartford Whalers, but there was nothing he loved more than cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. He will be forever missed by his devoted wife Susan, his four children, and his five adored grandchildren: Jennifer Warriner of New London, Daniel Warriner, wife Heather and their son Owen of Rocky Hill, Carly (Warriner) Corrigan, husband Jim and their daughters Caroline and Emma of West Simsbury, Derek Warriner, partner Ashley and their sons Derek and Jameson of Wethersfield. He is also survived by three brothers, Rick Warriner and wife Lynn, Bill Warriner and wife Nancy, and Bob Warriner and wife Cheryl, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends including Art Kureczka who was like another brother to him. Special thanks to Dave’s extended family at Newington High School and the Wethersfield Police Department. Funeral services and burial will be private due to the current health crisis. A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be determined. Donations in Dave’s memory may be made to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Foundation, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106. The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel of Wethersfield has been entrusted with arrangements. To share a memory of Dave with his family, please visit www.desopofuneralchapel.com.

Susan, I want you to know how devastated I was to hear about Dave. Dave was loved by everyone at school, he was the gentlest and sweetest man I know! He always spoke of love about his family.
I met you at Sam’s shopping with Dave but I am sure you don’t remember but I then thought what a beautiful couple you were. I lost my husband 13 years ago and I definitely know the terrible hurt you are going through losing the one you love so much! My thoughts and prayers are with you. Fondly, Judy (Powers)

So very sorry for your loss. I loved working with Sergeant Warriner. He was an ethical, fair, and knowledgeable man with a good sense of humor. As he finished reading the information at roll call on Sunday mornings, he would always remind the officer's that Sunday's was the day of sabbath. I miss working with him. Rick, the Knapp families are thinking of you and your family.

Dave Warriner was a special person. He had a great sense of humor, was extremely affable, and had a "devil-may-care" attitude toward life's trials and tribulations. I worked with Dave for his entire twenty-five years at the Wethersfield Police Department. He was truly liked by all. Rest in Peace Dave, you will be missed.

Dave was a 1975 WHS classmate of mine. Always remember him as a friendly and decent human being....just like his Dad who taught us Personal Finance at WHS. God rest his soul.
