Donna Lee Bristol-Amoruso

Donna Lee Bristol-Amoruso, beloved wife of Michael R. Amoruso of Wethersfield, died Monday (May 28, 2012) at home with family and friends by her side after many years of aggressively battling adenoid cystic carcinoma. She was born December 4, 1947 in Hartford. She was predeceased by her father, Arthur Neff Bristol, who died during military duty in 1950. She leaves her mother, Nancy (Hansen) Morgan, widow of William F. Morgan and a large extended family grieving her loss: Arthur and Carolyn Bristol, Peg and Don Marks, Nancy D. Morgan, Beth and Andrew Lemke, Bill and Kathy Morgan, Kevin H. Morgan; mother-in-law Rita Amoruso, Jane Amoruso, Nancy and Don Knapp. Donna leaves aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, numerous friends and her beloved pets. She was predeceased by cherished family members: Lois and Paul Diehm, Joe and Jay Amoruso, Anna Bahre, Lois and Warren E. Bristol, Dorothea and Hans S. Hansen. Donna loved books and the symbolism of butterflies. She enjoyed the peaceful respite of beaches everywhere she traveled. After she graduated from UConn, she began a life-long journey of service to others through her participation in VISTA. She continued this dedication with her work in housing in Hartford and as the Executive Director of the Wethersfield Housing Authority. Donna will especially be remembered for her determined spirit helping others whether through Grief Counseling or AA. As a result, she was always surrounded by the positive energy of many interesting people. The family would like to thank her friend and recent caregiver Mary Hoffman for going beyond all expectation to help.

Calling hours will be Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, CT. Funeral service will take place at 12 noon with the Reverend Deryk Richenburg of the First Church of Christ officiating.
