

Doris “Cindy” Gagnon Poulos-Hagi, of Rocky Hill, died on September 25, 2015 at age 82 surrounded by her family. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 22 years, George Hagi. She was predeceased by her first husband of 36 years, Attorney John Poulos; her brothers, Norman and Rolland Gagnon, and her grandson A.J. Chiulli. She was born April 29, 1933 in Hartford to Dorilda Geoffroy and Firmin Gagnon and was a 1951 graduate of Hartford Public High School, co-chairing its reunion committee for years. She worked as a legal secretary for Tom Spellacy, where she met her first husband John. They raised four children together in Wethersfield and were active in local Democratic politics. Cindy later co-owned and managed the Great Train Robbery Cafe in Hartford, as well as ran her own interior design firm. Known for her smarts, style, spunk, storytelling and generosity, she was a master entertainer and always the life of the party, the first to arrive and the last to leave. She hosted fabulous Easter Egg Hunts, Greek Easters, Saybrook clambakes, and Christmas Eve celebrations. She loved to travel and had many adventures with her husband George in Europe and Asia. She leaves behind her children and their spouses, Charles and Linda Poulos of Columbia; John and Susan Poulos of Baton Rouge, LA; Laura and Al Chiulli of Old Saybrook; and Leslie Poulos and Bill Stover of Columbia; her stepchildren, Darha and Ken Nigro of Simsbury and John and Diane Hagi of Glastonbury; grandchildren, Melissa Blake, Zachary Belanger, Joseph Poulos, Michael Batsche, Alexandra and Electra Chiulli; Artemus, Sultan, and Luke Stover; Michael and Zachary Nigro; Aleni and George Hagi, and great grandchildren Devin, Meghan, and Grayson Blake; Nick and Gabriella Poulos; and Tadeos Stover.
A celebration of her life and luncheon will be held at the Wethersfield Country Club, 76 Country Club Rd., on Sunday, September 27 at 12:30 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Hearth of Glastonbury and VNA Hospice in Vernon for their loving care, as well as Cindy's friends and many nieces and nephews for their love and visits.
