Dorothy Ann (Hart) Whalen, 94, of Rocky Hill and formerly Wethersfield, beloved wife of the late James Whalen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Born in Hartford on February 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Heinz) Hart. She was a graduate of Wethersfield High School, class of 1942. Dorothy worked for many years in the insurance industry and also in retail. She loved bowling and singing and was a soloist at the Wethersfield United Methodist Church. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be forever missed by her three children, Jay Whalen and wife Denise of Glastonbury, Kathy Hutchinson and husband Arthur of Wethersfield and Terri Ficarro of Wethersfield; six adored grandchildren, Joseph, Rebecca, Matthew, Amanda, Arthur and Alyssa and five cherished great-granddaughters. In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Charles Hart and her sister, Marion Rogers.
