Edward T. Bojor

Edward Bojor, 93, of Wethersfield, peacefully passed away at his home on September 20th, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones. “Pa” will be fondly remembered for his intellectual wit and love of sweets and puzzles. Ed was born on October 10th, 1932 in Hartford. He was the only child born to parents John Frank Bojor and Rose Giera Bojor. After graduating from Hartford Public High School, he attended Trinity College, where he majored in chemistry and minored in mathematics. Ed also took night courses at the University of Hartford’s Hillyer College to pursue a Master’s degree in business and accounting.

After college, Ed enlisted in the Air Force Academy and attended basic training in Houston, Texas. He became captain of the cadet corps following his completion of Flight Operations training at Ellington Air Force Base. It was in Texas where he met his future wife, Peggy Gibbs. They were married on January 25th,1958. Together Ed and Peggy spent summers traveling from Connecticut to Texas visiting historical sites with their children, educating them through these experiences.

Ed began a career working at Aetna Life Insurance Company. A leader by nature, he became supervisor of the administrative trainee program in the Hartford Regional Accounting Office. Driven by a growing interest in the stock market, Ed later shifted his career to finance. He became a stockbroker at Tucker, Anthony, & R.L. Day.

Ed’s detail-oriented personality led him to a final career at Pratt and Whitney, where he served in the role of Information Systems project leader. In this position he started programming and machine language, progressing through various generations of IBM equipment. He directed projects in engine parts scheduling, part ordering, material control, product support costing, standards, and purchasing. He retired from Pratt and Whitney in 1988 after a successful and fulfilling career.

Ed enjoyed a challenge, and was driven by a sharp mind. He could be found tackling puzzles of all kinds, especially difficult crossword puzzles, or engaging in lively debates on national politics. He spent many hours reading nonfiction books and maintained an impressive library in his home. Ed and Peggy particularly enjoyed playing slots at both Connecticut casinos.

Ed strived to keep mentally and physically busy, and he occupied himself with home maintenance projects. One such project was the time spent maintaining his family’s beloved beach cottage in Cornfield Point, Old Saybrook. Few places held more meaning than the cottage, the setting of many family gatherings and memorable summers.

Ed is survived by his wife of 68 years, Peggy Bojor of Wethersfield. He is also survived by his daughters Pat Shea (Tom) of Newington, Lori Joyce (Anthony) of Uncasville, Sue McCready of Mystic, and Lisa Rigoulot (Kate Dufour) of Hallowell, ME. Left to cherish Pa’s memory are grandchildren, Brendan Shea (Melissa), Juli Belair (Brandon), Mandy Joyce and Conor Shea (Stella), and great-grandchildren, Max and Brooke Belair, Ronan Shea and Vera Shea.

Friends and family are invited to gather from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, September 25th, at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A private burial with military honors will occur at a later date. Ed will be laid to rest alongside his parents at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
