

Edwin T. Hellyar, Jr., 95, of West Hartford, beloved husband for 70 years of the late Marjorie (Toscano) Hellyar, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025. Born in Hartford on November 12, 1930, he was the son of the late Edwin T. Hellyar, Sr. and Jane (D’Esopo) Hellyar. Edwin graduated from Weaver High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Hillyer College. He worked for many years in leadership for Junior Achievement of CT and the Connecticut American Heart Association, retiring as Executive Director. He loved the NY Yankees, reading books, family ancestry, traveling to Florida and Europe.
A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Edwin will be forever missed by his three sons with their wives, E. Michael and Maryellen Hellyar, James and Mary Lou Hellyar, all in East Haven, and Brian and Erina Hellyar in Wethersfield; seven adored grandchildren, Leanne, Kevin, Brandon, James, Kristina, Samantha and Diana and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving brother-in-law, Thomas (Karen) Toscano, as well as many supportive family members and friends.

Calling hours will be Friday, November 28 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. concluding with a Chapel Prayer Service at 12 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.
