

Elizabeth (Betty) L. DesRoches, 76, of Wethersfield, beloved wife for 55 years of Robert (Bob) G. DesRoches passed away peacefully on Sunday (December 5, 2010). Born December 19, 1933 in Toronto, Canada, she was the daughter of Dougald and Mary (Marshall) McLean. She grew up in Toronto where she became the Canadian National Sewing Champion shortly after graduation from Danforth Technical School. A resident of Wethersfield for the past 40 years, she was an avid painter and her paintings are treasured by her children. Betty cherished time spent with her family and one of the highlights of each year for her for over 15 years was the annual family vacation in Maine with her husband, Bob, her two boys and their wives and her grandchildren. She was a past member of the Year Round Garden Club of Wethersfield. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her husband Bob, and her sons, Gerald of Wethersfield and Michael of Rocky Hill, and their spouses, Katrina and Diane. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Douglas, Alexander and Nicole, whose many soccer games and school events she thoroughly enjoyed. In addition she is survived by her sister, Mary Adele Knight and her husband Kenneth of Burlington, Ontario, and by her brother, Marshall McLean and his wife Anne of Scarborough, Ontario. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday (December 9) at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. The burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Wednesday (December 8) from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
