

Elizabeth “Betty” Anne Martello, 75, of Portland, loving wife of Richard Martello, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 8, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hartford on May 27, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Therese (Sirois) Grenier.
Betty had several passions, including puzzles, crafting, and baking, but nothing brought her more joy than entertaining. She was happiest when her home was full of friends and family. Always filled with energy, Betty had her own successful cleaning business for many years prior to her retirement.
In addition to her husband of over 50 years, Richard, she will be greatly missed by her two loving children; her daughter, Jenifer McCarty and her husband, Greg of Glastonbury and her son, Vincent and his wife Christine of Stamford. She also leaves behind her adoring grandchildren; Lauren and Leah McCarty and Joseph and Jack Martello. Betty also leaves her brother, Rick Grenier and his wife Terry of Florida, sister, Sue Nesco and her husband Jerry of Cromwell and many adoring nieces and nephews. Betty was sadly predeceased by her brother, Bill Grenier, sister Jackie Lallier and sister Gisele Rozman.
The Martello family will receive relatives and friends at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield on Saturday, September 13th from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. with a Prayer Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Donations in Betty’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
