Elizabeth Ewa (Bilik) Szyszka, 65, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of 45 years to Boguslaw Szyszka, entered peacefully into God’s loving care on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born in Lublin, Poland, Elizabeth was the cherished daughter of the late Jan and Zenobia Krzysiak. She immigrated to the United States, where she built a beautiful life centered around love, family, and hard work.
Elizabeth had a remarkable talent as a seamstress—a gift she carried with pride and grace throughout her life. She brought creativity and care to everything she crafted, whether she was tailoring garments or sewing something special for a loved one. Her passion for fashion and people led her to a long and fulfilling career at Macy’s Department Store, where she was a valued and well-loved member of the team.
Above all, Elizabeth’s heart belonged to her family. She was most proud of her role as “Babcia” to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, warmth, and the way she brought people together. Hosting family gatherings was her true passion—whether it was a simple Sunday meal or a holiday celebration, her home was filled with laughter, love, and the delicious aroma of home-cooked Polish food.
Her zest for life was infectious. Elizabeth had a deep appreciation for music and loved to dance. She also cherished time at the beach, basking in the sun and sea air, and never passed up the chance for a long road trip.
In addition to her devoted husband, Boguslaw, Elizabeth leaves behind her two loving daughters: Karina and her husband Roger Dziuba and Sylwia and her husband Jay Wanat; her sister Marzena (Jacek) Szkudlarek, and her brother Slawomir (Iwona) Krzysiak. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to her five precious grandchildren who were her motivation to keep going; Martina, Parker, Sydney, Anthony, and Dylan. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Oncology team, the entire AHF team and the ICU nurses at Hartford Hospital, who cared for her with such compassion, dignity and respect. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 140 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Please go directly to church. Burial will be private and held at a later date.
Elizabeth's gentle spirit, generous heart, and vibrant presence will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
