Ellen C. Healy

Ellen C. Healy, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, on January 8 at age 74. The consummate caretaker, lover of books, long car rides and the beaches of Cape Cod, she was married for 52 years to the boy next door who became her best friend and love of her life. She has been his “Big Z” for over 60 years. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1969 and spent her career caring for the young and old beginning at Newington Children’s Hospital and Wethersfield Manor. In the early 1980’s she helped to open the St. Agnes home for teenage mothers and ran their daycare program. In 1986 she opened her own home daycare where she helped care for and raise many children over the next 20 years. Ellen was a member of the Rocky Hill Junior Women’s Club, and after her move to Wethersfield became the PTO president of both Charles Wright and Corpus Christi school. One of her proudest accomplishments was serving as Chairperson of the Wethersfield Board of Education. But her absolute joy in life was her family; she was a wife, mother, grandmother and a friend. To those that knew her she was simply irreplaceable. Ellen is survived by her husband, Daniel Healy. She also leaves behind three daughters, Meghan Slesinski of Wethersfield, Sarah Prior and husband Wayne of Wethersfield, and Katharine Lukasiewski and husband Keith of Old Lyme. She leaves behind her grandchildren Nicholas, Tessa, Tanner, Ty, Brendan, Caiden, Logan, Joshua, Emilia, Alexander, and Michael and many friends that felt like family. Until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand. Due to Covid, services will be private.
