

Emanuel “Mike” Kyris, 62, of East Hartford, passed away prematurely Friday, September 6, 2024 at UCONN Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born in Rhodes, Greece, August 25, 1962, he was one of five sons to the late Anastasios and Chrysanthi (Karpathiou) Kyris. Mike immigrated to Connecticut in 1970 with his parents and brothers, settling in Hartford. He was a graduate of A.I. Prince Tech High School. He worked many years in the restaurant industry as an owner and manager. Always polite, Mike greeted customers with a hello, and a smile. He was very personable and friendly to all those he encountered. Emanuel was a hard worker and kind person to all that he met. His hobby was to tackle minor renovations at home and was very talented at fixing minor problems. He enjoyed and looked forward to his yearly vacations every summer at his home in Rhodes and being with family and friends there as well.
Emanuel was predeceased by his older brother, Nikitas. He will be deeply missed and forever in the hearts of his sister-in-law, Maria of Rhodes Greece; his three brothers, Christos, and partner Theodora Balasis Akavalos of East Lyme, Stelios and Toula of Rhodes, Greece and Savvas and his wife Savvoula of Suffield, in addition to many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles (most of whom live in Rhodes), and many friends and colleagues. The Kyris family extends a special heartfelt thanks to his special friend for all her kindness and assistance.
