Eugenia T. Romeo, 79, widow of Anthony Romeo, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023 after a long, hard fight with Alzheimer’s disease. Eugenia was born in Ukraine on December 28, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Mykola and Kateryna Turianska. Eugenia moved to the States when she was just 6 years old to Chester, PA and then later settled in Ewing, NJ.
Throughout her life, Eugenia held many occupations, from a professional opera singer, to florist, and later to a special education teacher. She was a lover of all animals, particularly her dogs and cats. She enjoyed gardening, reading, singing and all things Christmas.
She was also a woman of great faith. Her love for her Savior, the Lord Jesus and her faith in Christ was the most important thing to her and was very evident by the sacrificial love for her family, friends, and how she faithfully served in her church. She had such a big heart and never stopped praying and caring for people that she met in her lifetime.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her sister, Helen Cichanowsky of Aston, PA, her two sons; Matthew Romeo and his wife Alison of Wethersfield, CT and John Romeo and his wife Alexa of Basking Ridge, NJ, and her precious grandchildren; Giuliana, Luca, Autumn, and Anthony. She was predeceased by her sisters Antonina Sioma and Olga Turianska, and her brother-in-law Nicholas Cichanowsky. We also would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Elaine Herrin and Yolanda Velez.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, December 2 at M. William Murphy Funeral Home at 935 Parkway Ave in Ewing, NJ 08618. A viewing will take place from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. with a service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://act.alz.org/site/Donation2?) or The Humane Society of NJ (https://www.newjerseyhumanesociety.org/donate). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.desopofuneralchapel.com for the Romeo family.
