Born on June 6, 1949, in North Carolina to the late William and Frances (Harris) Miller, Evelyn was raised in North Carolina before spending many years in New York before finally making Connecticut her home. There, she pursued her passion for helping others by graduating from nursing school. She went on to dedicate more than 30 years of her life to caring for patients in various hospitals throughout Connecticut before retiring. Nursing was more than a profession for Evelyn; it was a reflection of who she was. A natural-born caregiver, she had a genuine gift for comforting others and making those around her feel cared for and supported.
Evelyn was lively, warmhearted, and deeply devoted to her family. She treasured time spent together, especially gathering around the table to share meals, laughter, and conversation. A wonderful cook, she found joy in preparing food for the people she loved and bringing family together. Her creativity extended beyond the kitchen, as she enjoyed sewing, crafting, and working with her hands. She also had a special love for plants and gardening, finding happiness in nurturing and watching things grow.
Above all, Evelyn's greatest joy was her family. Her caring nature, generous spirit, and love of togetherness will be remembered by those who knew and loved her. The memories she created through her kindness, creativity, and devotion will remain a lasting source of comfort to her family and friends.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Timothy Miller; step-son Ryan Stewart and wife Milly; sisters, Doris Miller and her husband, Phillip Hysmith, Cynthia Brown and her husband, Patrick, and Elgina Brooks and her husband, Neville; and many other loving family members and friends who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Sheileen Miller; mother, Frances Miller; and sisters, Odessa Bazemore, Eunice Thompson, and Verna Harris.
All services will be held privately and at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Evelyn's name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
