

Francesco 'Frank' Misseri, 91, of Hartford, the beloved husband of Vita (Spina) Misseri, passed away on Tuesday (April 7, 2009). He was born on July 29, 1917 in Waterbury the son of the late Francesco and Concetta (Cassarino) Misseri. Frank grew up in Canicattini Bagni, Italy and served in the Italian Army during World War II in Yugoslavia and North Africa. During the war, he was held as a POW in England. Frank owned and operated Frank's Barber Shop on Franklin Avenue in Hartford for 45 years before semi-retiring in 2003. Frank was an artist and enjoyed painting, sculpting and sketching. He also enjoyed playing his mandolin and guitar and was a member of the Canicattinese Society, in Hartford. Including Vita, his wife of 51 years, Frank is survived by four sons, Salvatore Misseri and his wife Jane of Aztec, New Mexico, Michael Misseri and his wife Karen of Windsor, Frank Misseri and Lia Stein of East Hartford, and Joseph Misseri and his wife Paula of Hartford; a daughter, Connie Roussel and her husband Neil of East Hartford; seven grandchildren, Lori, Pam, Rad, Emily, Rose, Matthew and Jonathan and a great-granddaughter, Danielle. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Sebastiano, Giuseppe and Paolo and his sister, Concetta Carbone. Funeral services will leave Monday, April 13 at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine Church, Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are SATURDAY, April 11 from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
