

Francis L. ""Frank"" Simeone, 87, of Rocky Hill and Florida, loving husband of Ellen (Alberone) Simeone for 62 years, passed away Monday (October 25, 2010) at Hartford Hospital. He was born September 12, 1923 in Hartford and was the son of the late Nicholas and Teresa (Fitipaldi) Simeone. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during WWII. Frank was part of the first wave of infantry riflemen hitting Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. Six days later he was taken captive and held as a P.O.W. until the end of WWII in Dresden, Germany. He was employed by the Hartford Insurance Company, retiring many years ago. Frank was a founding member of the VFW Post #2138, Rocky Hill, serving as its Quartermaster for many years. He was also a member of the Elks Club and enjoyed winters in Florida. Besides his wife he is survived by a son Nicholas Simeone and wife, Ann of Wethersfield, a daughter JoAnn Daversa and husband, Henry of Wethersfield; his beloved grandchildren Allison E. Simeone, Taylor Simeone and Matthew Daversa; a brother Donald Simeone of Albuquerque, NM, and sisters-in-law Cecelia DePaolis, Jean Cronin and Rose Lumbruno. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. (Everyone is asked to go directly to the church.) Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will be at a later date.
