

Francis Nicholas “Frank” “Jr” Pappa, 71, of Newington, beloved husband for 47 years of Mary Elizabeth (Hart) Pappa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Born in Hartford on May 2, 1944, he was the son of the late Frank Phillip Pappa and Carmela (Dellarippa) Pappa. He was a proud Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. His dad started the family business, Frank Pappa & Son Landscaping, in 1945 and Frank took over as owner and operator along with his brothers Phillip and George. He eventually, along with his sons Paul and Anthony, took over this business that they still own and operate today. Frank was an extremely hard worker but he always managed to put his family first. He never missed a single football game or other sporting events for his sons and daughters. JR enjoyed working in his yard, which was always immaculate. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Mary Elizabeth; four children, Francis Paul Pappa and wife Nicole of Berlin, Anthony Joseph Pappa and wife Denise of Middletown, Nicole Ann Pappa and fiancé Robert Hart of Wethersfield and Christina Marie Pappa of Newington and his five adored grandchildren who loved spending time with him, Anthony Schnur, Anthony Pappa, Gabriella Pappa, Juliana Pappa and Talia Pappa. Frank is also survived by two brothers, Phillip Pappa and wife Roseann of Wethersfield and George Pappa and wife Carol of Newington; two sisters, Frances Schaufler and husband William of Westerly, RI and Joanna Seio and husband Kenneth of Newington; brother-in-law, Joseph Hart and late wife Donna of Wethersfield and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. JR also loved his two dogs, Eddie and Fletcher.
Funeral services will begin Friday (April 22) at 9 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave., Hartford. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
