Gail Marion (Cadwell) Hansen, 70, of Wethersfield, died peacefully Wednesday, January 13, 2016 after a courageous fight with cancer and several lesser ailments. She was born February 5, 1945 and raised in Greenfield, Massachusetts, and was the daughter of the late Howard Janes and Marion (Twining) Cadwell. Gail was a graduate of the University of Hartford. She was a talented artist, a designer of many signs and event logos known to Wethersfield locals, a dedicated mother and homemaker, and a tireless caregiver to her parents, uncle, and disabled pet dog, Amica, in their respective twilight years. She was loved by her children for her quirky humor and her tireless support through youthful misadventures and overseas military service alike – and the same kindness and humor won her VIP treatment from the staffs of several medical facilities in her later days. In this sometimes-cynical age, she was a constant reminder what heart looks like. She is survived by her sons, James Edward Hansen of Wethersfield and Robert Howard Hansen of Rocky Hill; her daughter-in-law (James’ wife) Gina DeGregorio; her brother, Howard Janes Cadwell, Jr., his wife Lenore, and their children, Lauren, Laine, and Sam Cadwell, all of Massachusetts. The funeral service will be private and there will be no calling hours. Gail’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the state of Connecticut for its comprehensive assistance obtaining the care she needed, and to the staff of Maple View Health and Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care provided to Gail during her several stays there.
