

Gary Joseph Buyak, 71, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Sandra Cecelia (Amacker) Buyak for 31 years, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2017 at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side. Gary was born in Hartford on May 29, 1946 and was the son of the late Stanley and Jennie (Kritch) Buyak. Gary proudly served and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam. He was decorated with the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a dedicated employee of the United States Post Office, retiring after 38 years of service. Gary was always a hard worker, but as much as he enjoyed working, Gary also lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed all types of sports, his pets, cars, playing in many softball leagues, listening to music and he enjoyed his quiet time reading. Gary had an amazing disposition. He was always happy and had a great sense of humor. He was honest and caring and he lived by the rule where your word meant everything, he never broke a promise. Most of all, Gary was a dedicated and loving family man. In addition to his wife, Gary will be missed by his son, Gary M. Buyak and Ashley Cianci of Wethersfield, his daughter, Rachel C. Buyak of Rocky Hill and especially his cherished grandchildren, Nevaeh, Cecelia and Amelia. He will also be missed by his brother, Stanley L. Buyak of Meriden. In addition he leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved and respected him. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow at Middletown State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown.
