
Gary W. Putnam, 49, of Wethersfield, passed away on Friday (November 2, 2007). Gary was born on September 18, 1958 in Hartford to Donald and Mary (Stroud) Putnam of Wethersfield. He was employed by Cummings Metro Power as a diesel mechanic. He worked part time for Blade & RF Technologies as chief technician for the construction of high quality Radio Frequency transmission cables for the induction industry and also served in the United States Marine Corps. Gary's hobby was making custom hunting and fishing knives and he became an accomplished custom knife maker. Besides his parents, Gary is survived by his children, Scott, Mitchell and Lisa Putnam of Cromwell; one brother, Douglas Putnam and his wife Leslie of North Smithfield, RI; two sisters, Pamela Franco and her husband Dave, and Wendie Putnam of Austin, TX; two nieces, Carly Putnam and Sarah Franco; and a nephew, Spencer Putnam. Gary also leaves behind his beloved fiancée, Roxanne Sherwood, her daughter and son and her grandson, Logan. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7 at 2 p.m. at the First Church of Christ, 250 Main St., Old Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Village Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, November 6 from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
