

George ""Joe"" Botsford Clark, Jr., 80, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of 34 years to Barbara J. (Masajada) Clark, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, (December 29, 2010) at the Wethersfield Health Care Center. Joe was born February 16, 1930 in Hartford, son of the late George and Geraldine (McDermott) Clark. He grew up in Rocky Hill, graduated from Wethersfield High School and attended the University of Connecticut. He was employed by Holliston Mills for many years and worked at their branches in Philadelphia, Chicago and New York City. He worked in industrial sales for J. M. Ney Company and Tracy, Robinson and Williams before retiring. George volunteered at the Fidelco Guide Dog Association and raised ten German Shepherd guide dogs for the blind. He volunteered at the Antique Radio and Communications Museum in Windsor. In 1963, he was Chairman of the ICO (Insurance City Open) now the Travelers Golf Tournament. He was a very active member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Wethersfield Country Club as well as participating in a number of other community service activities. He was a passionate fan of the UCONN women's basketball team. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his sister, Gail Brown and her husband, Reverend Reed Brown and his sister-in-law, Dorothy M. Hartland. Joe was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Dakin and her husband, Richard. In addition, he leaves his beloved nephew and nieces, Richard Dakin, Tracy Gray, Leslie Dakin, Candice Dakin-Kelly, Heather Benton, Abigail Greenip and Elizabeth Sheppard as well as 12 great nieces and nephews. George's family would like to express their appreciation and sincere gratitude to the entire staff at the Wethersfield Health Care Center for their excellent care, compassion and kindness during his illness. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield at 10 a.m. There are no visiting hours.
